“The quiet dignity of the human face, the eyes, the smile, the signature tweak of expression;
focused, relaxed, contemplative, humored, on it goes.
The tilt of the head and the message of the posture — relaxed, at-the-ready, sophisticated –
are all elements of the whole to be factored into capturing the individual.
The challenge is to remain open and intent to receive the relevant nuances that emerge,
as the painting progresses to the finish – with the subject right before me...
the star of the show.
It is an energizing experience for both the sitter and the artist
to be creating a legacy together.

as they sit before me revealing via non-verbal clues, their outward qualities, and,
through a verbal exchange, their inner character formed by life’s adventures.
